East Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center (ETASC) opened its door
in October 1999 with a free surgery
weekend in benefit of Potter's Clay
Surgical Gifts, formerly Fresh Start.
Since then, ETASC's commitment to volunteerism
and philanthropy has grown throughout
its years of operation. Since opening,
ETASC has contributed an estimated
$550,000 in facility fees allowing
Potter's Clay the ability to provide
free surgery.
Potter's Clay is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing
children with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse or disease with free reconstructive
surgery. Since 1999, Potter's Clay performed 164 free surgeries worth
an estimated $1 million. ETASC hosted the majority of the surgeries.
Potter's Clay served patients from 3 countries, 13 states, 9 Tennessee
Counties, and 3 Virginia counties through 2008. Due to loss of Federal
grants, their works have ceased.
East Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center
continues in charitable efforts through individual physician requests.
It is our hope that more funding will be made availabe in the future to resume
this work. |
